Embracing spontaneity with curiosity comes personal joy.

Meet Matthew Courtney one of the most intelligent and funniest people I’ve ever met.
Walking down the sidewalk in Soho I noticed one of his pieces taped on the wall it reminded me of a quote from one of my favorite movies “Into the Wild” a Sean Penn movie.
We were talking about art, and the people of New York. He had a quirkiness to himself a quirky yet intelligent charisma. He was taking about how he pays $0 to sell his art on the sidewalk breathing free clean air and the building behind him pays 60k per month to sell their clothes and all they breathe is Freon. (Laughs)
Originally from “Chief” Seattle as he put it asking me where I was from Matthew has lived in New York since 83’. He was informing me on the history of the area and what it use to be and what it is now with strip malls instead of art galleries. I felt like I was in a movie listening to his stories and paying close attention to his mannerisms while the busy side walked was crawling like ants on a forest floor hunting for the next purchase. I’m glad I took the time to stop and listen. #staycurious #dosomethingcool (at J Crew Soho)

My brother Kyle was questioning while we were walking past the beautifully carved statues and carefully built pieces, What will the 21 century have to showcase when a museum is constructed 200 years from now? Phones, computers, how easy it is to make life easier? Even though technology is a huge accomplishment it has turned into a crutch in our everyday lives. I was inspired after I began to think what am I producing that can stand the test of time. Im thankful for the day spent at the museum it has inspired me to really put my all into my work and let people feel emotion in a piece of work we call art.

The history of art is what captives me. The way people lived their lives, embraced the moment and turn it into something. Their expressions continue to showcase ones life in future eras, thats is what amazes me. Showcase your life so well people will treat your very belongings as precious gems.

My brother and my favorite piece at the museum.
